As a new Mom with a recently acquired college degree, being diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis was devastating. The outlook for my life that once was bright, became dim.Sleepless nights, crippling fatigue and unrelenting pain and stiffness ensued. I had to adapt the way I picked up and held my baby. I needed help with household tasks. I lost my independence along with any hope for my future. Eventually my perspective started to shift. I realized my biggest challenge wasnt the illness and how it affected my body, but in not letting the fact that I had a chronic illness define me. This pivotal realization allowed me to stop dwelling on what I couldnt do and to start focusing on what I could. I cant walk without a cane, but I can walk.
